If you’ve found your way to our site the chances are that you, like us have homes and gardens that you’re proud of and you simply want to protect them from cats, dogs, foxes, deer, squirrels and other garden and home pests including rodents (rats, mice and moles).

We started this site because we were looking for ways to stop our neighbours’ cats from using various parts of our gardens as a toilet – these cats had taken to fouling in our kids’ sandpit. We also had a bird table that had waaaay too many feathers scattered around it to put down to plumage molting, suggesting that it was probably more of a cat buffet than a haven for birds. Our research showed us that although there were plenty of products out there that claim to prevent cats and not all of them work.

We found that the most effective systems available are the ultrasonic and sprinkler repeller systems. As with anything in life, some things work better than others but most of these systems are effective. The negative reviews generally stem from people’s expectations of these products. If you’re looking for a system that protects your entire garden and your garden is average sized then you shouldn’t expect a single device such as The Big Cheese Cat Repeller to protect your entire garden. Every system has it’s limitations such and we try to highlight those wherever we can. Keen gardeners put a lot of effort into planning their gardens and we think that it’s worth putting in a bit of effort in planning how to protect your garden as well.

We installed a couple of Big Cheese Cat Repellers and found it to be pretty effective. Do cats still come into our garden? Yes, but they obviously avoid the areas protected by the ultrasonic repellers.

Please note: we have tried only to include products on this website where people have reported positive results in reviews and where the number of reviews are representative enough to give a clear idea of a product’s effectiveness (this does not apply to products that are new to the market). We don’t always get it right and can accept no responsibility if you happen to find a product lacking. That has to be between you and the seller and/or the product manufacturer. If you find a product lacking, please let us know so we can try to decide whether a particular product is fundamentally flawed and should be removed from our pages.
